I think LIFT06, like REBOOT05, was one of those conferences you want to attend personally. Not on behalf of your employer.
I think it’s one of those conferences that you actually go along to for self-improvement — to meet new and old friends, to catch up on the state of play and just generally hang out with those of a common interest.
Where you can find some headspace to actually take stock of what’s being said rather than be busy taking notes so that it can all be nicely regurgitated to your colleagues in the arbitrary paean you’ll be conducting when you arrive back at work (don’t get me wrong, it’s not unfair to do this if work is paying you to attend a conference – it’s just that you end up approaching them differently).
So LIFT06 seems to be have been a nice relaxed conference (notice the ‘shoes off’ attitude!).
I should point out that I didn’t attend LIFT06 – I didn’t even know it was happening until it started. See even I’m not that well connected really folks.
But I know that many find these type of gatherings far more useful and productive than the stage-managed uber-conferences that approach us in the merry month of March.
Or maybe it’s because twats like me don’t know about them? 🙂
If you want to see/hear the videos/audio from the event, check out the FreeStudios.tv page or the podcast feed.
