Google make Map API available (finally)

Automatically inserted editorial note: this post was written 12 years ago, it may no longer represent my own views. Or just be a crazy post from my youth!

After months of hacking away at Google’s implementation of their uber-cool mapping tool, developers have finally been given the official nod to let rip. Google have launched an official API for the maps. Huzzah!

Reports from the remixing community over on backstage.bbc.co.uk suggest Google managed to break their “Heath Robinson” implementations in the process, but at least it was for a good cause. And about bloody time too.

(Also, some nice documentation)
