As predicted Lycos’ Anti-Spam Screensaver kicks servers off Internet

Netcraft are reporting that the Lycos Screensaver I wrote about a few days ago has started to bring down servers as intended (and expected).

So, anyone who’s downloaded the screensaver (apparently 90,000 people according to the BBC) has successfully taken part in a DDoS attack, and as such could be sued by their ISP, the server administrators, or the people who were running sites on the box.

In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content as took action now, the web will likely be far more useful than ever before.
