Marissa Mayer and Brad Garlinghouse to accompany MC Hammer

I know that Michael (Arrington) wasn’t happy with my strong criticism of the appointment of MC Hammer to the board of judges for TechCrunch20 Conference. I think he felt I was being very harsh about it all.

Well, Michael has just announced that he’s now got Google’s Marissa Mayer and Yahoo!’s Brad Garlinghouse to sign up to the event too.

These are two great additions to the panel – so fair’s-fair, I’m happy to acknowledge that in this post (he didn’t ask me to btw). In fact, I think all of the other panelists are great.

I think the bottom line with the MC Hammer thing was that his credentials were not communicated in the original announcement posts. It turns out he’s a blogger and uses a lot of mobile and video tools. Personally, I still don’t think that’s enough to warrent his place, but at least that explains why he was chosen over Snoop Dogg or Vanilla Ice.

But my point is things might have been less heated if some level of explanation had been made at the time.
