Life in San Francisco

Sorry for being a bit off the radar the past couple of days, folks. Sofia and I have been getting ourselves settled here in San Francisco.

Since arriving on Wednesday we’ve:

Yesterday (Saturday) Sofia and I went apartment hunting. Everyone told us to use Craigslist which immediately said in my mind that we shouldn’t use Craigslist because everyone else was using it. Sure enough the prices on there were particularly steep (as competition is so great), and we discovered that approaching the leasing office in residential buildings was the best approach.

We’ve managed to secure an apartment in the 4th Street/Folsom/3rd Street/Harisson block of SoMa, right next to Yerba Beuna Gardens. It’s not one of the more trendy-and-lively neighbourhoods such as Haight and Asbury, but it’s pretty close to both downtown and the new, soon-to-be-opened, Citizen Agency office in 2nd Street. It will be particularly refreshing to be able to walk to work for the first time!

Today we went out shopping to get a feel for the furniture market (there’s plenty of outlets in SoMa) and then on to Zeeks Sports Bar to watch the Formula 1.

Sofia goes home tomorrow and I’m staying on here in San Fran to get down to some work.
