Back in February I had the pleasure of attending Ryan Carson’s “The Future of Web Apps” Summit here in London. I can’t tell you how much of a fantastic event it was – both in terms of the speakers and also the range of people that turned up.
Ryan puts on a fantastic event – esp at a price-point which brings so many new faces to the conference scene who would not otherwise attend the more budget straining O’Reilly conferences and the like.
Well, now Ryan is putting on a very similar bill in my soon-to-be-new-home of San Francisco but this time over two days.
10am — 6pm, Sep 13-14, 2006
Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, Lyon Street, San Francisco CA 94123 (map)
$295 for two days
Speakers include:
- Kevin Rose, digg
- Mike Arrington, TechCrunch
- Mike Davidson, Newsvine
- Jeff Veen, Google
- Tantek Çelik, Technorati
- Dick Hardt, Sxip
- Cal Henderson, Flickr
- Matt Mullenweg, WordPress
- Evan Williams, Odeo
- Tom Coates, Yahoo!
- Ted Rheingold, Dogster
- Carl Sjogreen, Google Calendar
- Steve Olechowski, Feedburner
- Ryan Carson
The one thing I took away from Future of Web apps in London was the openness of the speakers about their product and company. How much development cost, where they went wrong, security issues they had to deal with, etc. Most of the speakers from the London event are returning for the West-Coast event so I’m pretty sure it will remain.
