BBC has the scoop on an emerging recall of Apple batteries made by Sony (OEM) – the same manufacturer of the Dell batteries that had to be recalled earlier in the month.
1.8 million batteries are effected – in laptops bought between October 2003 and August 2006. According to the BBC report, 1.1m US machines are affected with a further 700,000 laptops abroad.
It’s bad news for anyone who uses their Apple laptop on planes. Qantas has announced it is banning the use of Dell laptops aboard it’s flight. Presumably this will now be extended to Apple; with rumours other airlines are considering adopting a similar policy to Qantas.
